    Serving Students with Special Needs

Seattle Public Schools is committed to non-discrimination. The district recognizes and supports the right of students to enjoy equality of treatment and access to opportunities in education.

Our diverse student population is strengthened by its commitment to embrace all learners, including those with disabilities. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 guarantees that students with disabilities have the ability to access a free appropriate public education.

    Special Education

The Special Education department works collaboratively with school and district leaders, teachers, students, and families to provide the tools, guidance, supports, and services needed to ensure access and success for students with disabilities.
