Prior to joining SPS, I served as the Neighborhood Programs Manager at the Department of Neighborhoods, where I managed a variety of community building programs including: Neighborhood District Coordinator Program, Neighborhood Matching Fund, People’s Academy for Community Engagement, and Public Outreach & Engagement Liaison programs. I served as a key leader in the City of Seattle’s Race and Social Justice Initiative for three City of Seattle mayors, and am committed to improving educational outcomes for Seattle students, parents, and communities.

A Seattle native, I grew up in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood. I attended the University of Washington where I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s of public administration from the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance. I am happily married with two children Jordyn (9) and Justin (3).

I am responsible for project management of the Creative Advantage, Seattle Public Schools’ Arts Plan with the vision of ensuring every student at every school has the opportunity to learn through the arts, every year from kindergarten through 12th grade. We are a public-private partnership between the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, Seattle Public Schools, the Seattle Foundation and community based partners.

Seattle is a such fast-growing and changing place and we all need to play a role in preparing every one of our young people to thrive in our community. It is wonderful to get to play a role in bringing smart and passionate people together to help our kids cultivate their creativity, explore their identities, and grow their 21st Century skills through the arts.

In my free time, I love to travel anywhere and everywhere with my family whether it is driving around Alaska, visiting family in Japan, or peeking under rocks for hidden sea-life on Alki Beach.

Nick Hernandez
Partnership Data and Systems Manager

Phone: 206-252-0518

I am responsible for facilitating improved partnerships between schools and CBOs by leading the development and refinement of technology solutions that support data informed decision-making through data collection, data sharing, and data use.

I am humbled to serve Seattle Public Schools’ students and community in this role. I believe education is the foundation for thriving in life, and that a quality education is the right of every student. The chance to support non-profit and community partners, along with schools, in providing data-informed, whole-child services to the right student at the right time is an honor.

In my spare time I love to learn about new things, explore our beautiful state with my dog (Roscoe), play disc golf and soccer, and share good food with good friends.

Partnership Alignment Manager

Phone: 206-252-0688

I am responsible for building systems, policies, and tools to support strong, effective partnerships between schools and community based organizations. This includes partner onboarding and professional development, and working collaboratively to streamline and improve existing structures and systems.

I am excited to be working for SPS because I am a proud product of Seattle Public Schools, and I want every kid to have access to the quality education that I was fortunate to receive. I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing than bringing our schools together with the amazing resources of our local community to ensure that kids and families get the supports they need to be successful. In my spare time I enjoy singing 1990s era karaoke, exploring new soup recipes, and taking advantage of the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest!

Shukri photoShukri Olow
School and Community Partnerships Coordinator
Email: saolow@seattleschools.org
Phone: 206-252-0479

I am responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Race to the Top Deep Dive 3 Building Blocks: Investing in Students, Families, and Community grant. This includes: developing a refined shared dataset, managing the governing structure, facilitating data sharing agreements with partners, as well as supporting alignment of services and programs within New Holly and the 5 focus schools.

I feel fortunate to be working with the Seattle Public Schools and coordinating this new partnership model, and hopeful that this will improve the academic achievements of our students. Formally with the Seattle Housing Authority, I feel a close connection to New Holly as it’s one of the family communities I’ve worked in previously. It feels like I haven’t left at all!

In my spare time, I enjoy being a mother to my two children, reading, as well as travelling.

Housing and Education Manager

I am thrilled to be doing work that brings together my passions of equity, education, and housing to help children succeed. I am responsible for managing the partnership and implementation strategies between Seattle Public Schools and Seattle Housing Authority. In this role, I connect the shared resources of SPS and SHA to help all our students reach their full potential and fulfill the goals of both agencies.

Raised in a military family, I had a unique opportunity to live in several different countries, but I am glad to have found a home here in Seattle. I attended the University of Washington, where I received a bachelor's degree in community and environmental planning and a master's of public administration. I look forward to my two young children, Nora and Nate, attending Seattle Public Schools some day. In my free time, I love playing soccer, bouldering at the climbing gym, and frequenting Seattle's beautiful parks with my children.

I am responsible for providing administrative support for the School and Community Partnerships team. I help to ensure partner alignment by serving as a liaison between SPS staff, schools, CBOs, and the City of Seattle’s Department of Education and Early Learning, as well as providing data interpretation, retrieval, and analysis.

Having recently relocated from Southern California, I am excited to bring my passion for education and assisting others to my new home here in Seattle. Our community partners offer a wealth of opportunities and services to our parents and students, and I am honored to be a part of helping to build and grow this community. In my spare time you can find me traveling the world or playing video and board games with friends.
