Option Schools

Option Schools in Seattle Public Schools

Seattle Public Schools has a number of option schools that families can request during Open Enrollment.

Option schools typically have GeoZones providing tiebreaker priority for students who live near them. There are tiebreakers for those who apply to attend — siblings (have a sibling already there) is first, GeoZone second and lottery third.

People must apply to attend an option school. No one is automatically assigned (other than those continuing throughout their years at the school.) Applications received during Open Enrollment will be eligible for applicable tiebreakers — applications received after Feb. 24 are late, do not receive tiebreaker priorities, and are much less likely to result in your student being assigned to the school (or program) of your choice.

Option schools also have Transportation Zones, indicating where students are expected to walk to school and where the district provides transportation.
