    Jennifer Hendrickson Named SHAPE WA Awards Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year

    The Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE), the nation’s largest membership organization of health and physical education professionals, announced Jennifer Hendrickson as the SHAPE WA Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year at their state conference Sat., Oct. 13.

    Hendrickson’s recognition highlights her service as a role model to her peers, ability to create innovative learning experiences for all students, and sensitivity to the physical and emotional needs of the youth in her care.

    Lori Dunn, preK-12 physical education and health literacy program manager says of Hendrickson’s teaching, “I have had the opportunity to watch Jennifer Hendrickson teach on numerous occasions and all I can say is the students, staff and community are blessed!” Dunn applauds Hendrickson’s explicit instruction and communications skills, “She sets a strong purpose for the learning at hand. She delivers quality physical education in any arena she is in and greatly gives her time in supporting our new teachers!”

    Currently serving in the role of district level instructional services physical education coach, Hendrickson credits her success to having excellent mentors, support, collaboration, and “a great physical education family in Seattle Public Schools.”
